The Barco Crescent 32T and Crescent 42T are internal drum based thermal plattesetters, designed to produce high quality plates for medium to high-volume four-color and black-and-white printing. They accommodate all media sizes starting at 400mm x 508 mm (15.75" x 20") up to 813mm x 762mm (32" x 30") for Crescent 32T model and up to 813mm x 1067 mm(32" x 42") for the Crescent 42T version.
Although primarily designed to expose aluminum plates, the Barco Crescent platesetters can handle film and polyester plates as well.
Several options allow the imager to be adapted to the customer's current and future needs.
Internal drum design and sophisticated optics ensure quality, speed, and flexibility. A fast spinning mirror tracking over the plate deflects a 1064 nm beam onto the plate and delivers extremely fast size plate in 4.5 minutes at 2540 ppi, while the Crescent 42T takes less than 6 minutes (depending on the type of media).
Architecture and optics
Modularity is a major Crescent platsetter strength. The addition of the Escort 3242 autoloader transforms a manual Crescent into a fully automatic exposing device with a cassette that can hold up to 50 plates. Slip sheet removal and plate handling are fully automated. After exposure, plates are fed directly into the on-line processor without operator involvement. Modularity also make the Crescent easily field upgradable. The Escort 3242 can be added to an already installed platesetter-to plate environment and keeping pace with changing business requirements.
